Antonio Murado - The artist series.

The Apple Box is a familiar sight on film and photography sets, a versatile tool that is pressed into endless service as a seat, step ladder, table, pedestal. We have elevated it to icon status, like Le Corbusier, but rendering it in Baltic birch plywood with rich color on all sides. This simple form evokes the sleek minimalism of Judd and the palette of Barragán. 

This Apple Box however, is even more special. A 1/1 edition, featuring one panel painted by the Spanish artist Antonio Murado.

Born in Lugo, Spain, Murado's paintings often depict abstracted landscapes and flowers, are characterized by their layered, impastoed surface and continued experimentation with the properties of paint and varnishes. Murado's work is part of the permanent collections of Spain's leading museums, including the Museo de Bellas Artes and the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporanea in Santiago.
